Parvar

Located in semnan Province, this 64563 ha mountainous and plain area has been protected since 1967. Parvar borders Dodangeh wildlife refuge and Boola protected area. The altitude range of 1190-3300 m, mean annual temperature of 12 C and mean annual precipitation of 320 mm, have resulted in cold semi-arid to temperate humid climates. The adjacency of the distinct Hyrcanian and central Iranian sites and habitats is one of the characteristics of the region. The northern mountains of the region are covered with vast upland ranges and unique Hyrcaninan and central Iranian sites and habitats is one of the characteristics of the region. Chestnunt-leaved oak, beech, hornbeam, coliseum maple, lime tree, scotch elm, hawthorn, juniper, pear, berberry, daphne, holly tree, woundwort, prickly thrift, corydalis, wormseed, astragal, thyme, borage and different species of Gramineae are among the main plant species of the area. The main animal species include red deer, roe deer leopard, brown bear, wild goat, wild sheep, goitred gazelle, wild cat, wolf, wild boar, jackal, chukar partridge, see-see partridge, various birds of prey, Lavantine viper, Latifi’s viper, Iranian cat snake and Mediterranean spur-thighed tortoise. High biodiversity, valuable Hyrcanian forests, vast rangeland covered with various medicinal plants, recreation facilities and proper access roads have paved the way for scientific, research and tourist activities in the region.
